Pupil Promise
We believe passionately in social justice. Academic attainment is essential but not enough for young people to thrive. We want to create successful learners beyond their time at school confident individuals and responsible citizens who can participate and lead in democracy and the community
Our Pupil Promise is designed to help every student grow into a well-rounded individual, ready for the wider world. The promise focuses on three key areas that define our vision for student development:
- Successful Learners – Building knowledge, skills, and resilience to achieve academic and personal goals.
- Confident Individuals – Developing self-belief, communication skills, and independence to thrive in life.
- Responsible Citizens – Encouraging respect, empathy, and active participation in the community.
Throughout their time at Orion Spires, students are encouraged to complete 30 different activities linked to these areas. These experiences range from academic challenges and leadership opportunities to community engagement and personal development. By completing these activities, students will leave Orion Spires as confident, capable, and responsible young adults.
To track progress, each student has a green Pupil Promise card in their planner. When an activity is completed, students provide evidence to staff, who will sign off the achievement on the card. Examples of activities include:
- Taking part in a school production or sports team
- Volunteering in the local community
- Leading a group project or mentoring younger students
- Participating in enrichment clubs or competitions
The Pupil Promise is more than a checklist—it’s a journey that celebrates growth, achievement, and belonging.
