Rewards, Praise and Recognition at Orion Spires

At Orion Spires, we believe in the power of positive discipline and recognise the significant impact that praise and recognition have on student wellbeing, motivation and achievement. Celebrating success and focusing on positive behaviour are fundamental to our approach, helping to build confidence, reinforce high expectations and strengthen relationships between staff and students.

A strong culture of recognition allows us to highlight student strengths and achievements, both within and beyond the classroom. By embedding rewards into everyday school life, we support our form tutors and staff in celebrating success, while also ensuring that achievements are recognised by the wider school community, including parents and carers. When students feel valued - whether through public recognition or private praise - they are more likely to contribute positively and engage fully in school life.

Staff are encouraged to reward students for sustained effort, commitment and achievement in all areas. This includes recognising:

• A positive attitude to learning and active engagement in lessons
• Respectful behaviour towards others
• High-quality classwork and home learning
• Contributions to the wider school community
• Demonstrating leadership, kindness and responsibility
• Being positive role models for peers

Students are also recognised for their conduct around the school, including acts of kindness, helpfulness and demonstrating excellent manners and respect for others.

Importantly, student voice has played a key role in shaping how rewards are delivered, ensuring that our approach is meaningful, motivating and reflective of what students value.

All rewards and recognition are rooted in our core values of Trust, Kindness and Endeavour, ensuring that positive behaviour is consistently acknowledged, celebrated and encouraged across the school.
