Student Leadership

Our Mission

Our mission is to represent and empower the student body by promoting our core values of Trust, Kindness and Endeavour, amplifying student voice and driving positive change within our school community.

Our Student Leadership structure ensures that all students have the opportunity to contribute to the life and direction of the school. The Student Senior Leadership Team is supported by an Assistant Principal and led by our Head Students and Deputy Head Students, alongside a team of Senior Prefects.

Each year group is represented by dedicated School Council Representatives, elected by their peers within each form. This democratic process ensures that all students have a voice and that leadership reflects the views and priorities of the wider student body.

Working Together

The Student Leadership Team meets regularly to discuss key issues, share ideas and contribute to school improvement. Through these meetings, students play an active role in shaping their school experience. The team also presents to the Principal once per term, ensuring that student perspectives are heard at the highest level of leadership.

Opportunities and Responsibilities

Student leaders at Orion Spires take on a wide range of responsibilities and opportunities, including:

• Raising and discussing matters on behalf of their peers with the Senior Leadership Team
• Representing the student body at key school events and activities
• Contributing to staff recruitment through participation in interview panels
• Speaking at public events and representing the school within the wider community
• Leading year group council meetings on a termly basis
• Delivering and supporting assemblies
• Developing key skills through dedicated training sessions focused on leadership, teamwork and public speaking

Through these experiences, students develop confidence, communication skills and a strong sense of responsibility.

Developing Future Leaders

Student Leadership at Orion Spires is a vital part of our wider Personal Development programme. It provides meaningful opportunities for students to develop their character, leadership skills and sense of civic responsibility.

By engaging in leadership, students contribute to achieving the Student Promise, gaining valuable experience and making a lasting, positive impact on the school community.
